SUNDAY 20 NOVEMBER 2011 - PORT PHILLIP BAY

Today's comp in Port Philllip Bay saw some good conditions early in the morning before the wind picked up. Fish were smaller than previous comps but there was still plenty to be had by all. In total 40 snapper and 2 Flathead were weighed in with a total weight of 80.03 kg and an average weight of 1.905 kg. Best fish for the day went to Les Amy with a Snapper of 3.69 kg. 16 Seniors, 1 Lady and 3 Juniors fished with 1 visitor also joining us for this comp.

 

 

SUNDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2011 - PORT PHILLIP BAY

Another great day with conditions being calm and the rain holding off.  Once again the reports from our members showed the bite was good early in the morning with some having some frantic runs with multiple hookups common.

Overall we had 22 members with 14 Seniors, 4 Ladies and 4 Juniors fishing. Fish overall were smaller this week with the best going to Trevor Cann with a snapper of 3.95kg. Ron Mason got onto some nice of flathead picking up 2 very nice flathead of around 800 g each. In total we had 67 fish weighed in (60 Snapper, 6 Flathead and 1 Gummy) for a total weight of 110.98 kg.

 

 

SUNDAY 6 NOVEMBER 2011 - PORT PHILLIP BAY

Our second PPB comp of the year started with some fantastic conditions on the bay. Many of our members managed to get their bag limit quite early and had time to duck home and refresh before the weigh in. Conditions were good on the bay with most fish reported being taken very early in the morning.

Some nice snapper were weighed in with Dave Jacobsen getting a quality fish of 4.92kg. Doris Amy, one of our lady competitors managed a nice fish of 4.14kg with Lorraine Arrowsmith another of our ladies managing a fish of 3.6kg. Once again the juniors were onto some good fish as well with Trent Cann landing a quality snapper of 3.8kg, Cameron Webber a snapper of 3.73kg and not to be outdone one of our Junior Ladies, Irene Hatzis, managed a nice fish of 2.87kg.

 

SUNDAY 23 OCTOBER 2011 - PORT PHILLIP BAY

This was the first of our snapper trips for the 2011/2012 season.

11 seniors and 4 juniors weighed in 33 fish including  31 snapper and 2 flathead.

Good catches for the day were Trevor Cann caught a snapper of 3.46Kg;  Norm Bull - 1 for 3.28Kg; Marcus Arrowsmith a snapper of 3.23Kg; Andrew Bouboulis - his heaviest being 2.97Kg; and Mark Watson - his biggest fish was 2.530Kg.

Of the juniors Jasmine Cann caught 2 snapper for a total of 6.30Kg with the heaviest 4.52Kg. ; Jacob Cann 1 snapper for 2.510Kg; Trent Cann - the biggest was 2.400Kg and Cameron Webber his snapper weighed in at 1.81Kg.

SUNDAY 25 SEPTEMBER 2011 - GUNNAMATTA

10 members and 2 juniors travelled to Gunnamatta this weekend.  5 Salmon and 2 mullet were caught for 2.3Kg.  Ron, Norm and Theo were the only seniors to catch fish and Cameron Webber  one of our juniors did well with his catch also.

 SUNDAY 3 & 4 SEPTEMBER 2011 - THORNTON - TROUT OPENING

 37 members (18 seniors, 10 ladies, 6 juniors and 3 midgets) travelled to Thornton for the weekend and in particular for the trout opening.  Members fished both the Goulburn and Acheron Rivers.  84 fish (49 Brown Trout, 36 Rainbow trout and 1 Redfin) were caught for a total weight of 27.54Kg.  Heaviest fish was caught by Bob Young - a Rainbow trout weighing 1.53Kg.  John May and John Wright both caught Brown Trout weighing 1.03Kg and 1.06 Kg respectively.  Jasmine Cann (a junior) caught a nice Brown trout which weighed 520 grams.  Xavier Bolton (a midget) caught 2 trout for 490 grams. 

 

BASS COAST BEACHES - SUNDAY 28 AUGUST 2011

 

Our first surf trip of the season, and a good turnout of 16 Seniors and 3 Juniors, mainly thanks to the great weather on the day. While the weather was good the fishing was very slow with just 4 Fish weighed in for a total of 2.2 kg.

SUNDAY 7 AUGUST  2011 - MELBOURNE RIVERS

 A very cold morning saw 14 members and 1 junior fished their choice of the Melbourne Rivers which lead into Port Phillip Bay.  A weigh in was held back at the clubrooms where the following results were announced.  24 Bream weighing a total weight of 11.8 Kg were brought to the scales.  Heaviest bream for the day were 750 grams by Dave Jacobsen, 680 grams by Graham Simester and 660 grams by Theo Galanos.  Glenn Hansen caught a nice bag of 6 bream for 2.98 Kg; Terry Quirk 5 Bream for 2.1 Kg and Rod Mulholland 4 Bream for 1.76Kg.  All fish came from Werribee River.

 

SUNDAY 24 JULY - TRIP TO WERRIBEE RIVER

6 am - 1 pm with weigh in at the carpark.

 

This trip saw 11 seniors and 3 juniors be confronted with a cold and wet Sunday.  However for those who travelled to Werribee River,  33 BREAM were caught for a total weight of 18.4 Kg.  Good catches for the day were Terry Quirk with 10 fish for 5.7Kg; Dave Jacobsen with 3 fish for 1.9Kg; Graham Simester with 3 fish for 1.6Kg and in the Juniors - Jasmine Cann with 4 fish for 2.8 Kg and Cameron Webber with 4 fish for 2.6Kg and Trent Cann with 2 fish for 77o grams.  Heaviest fish was caught by Jasmine and weighed 920 grams.

SUNDAY 17 JULY - TRIP TO LILLYDALE LAKE.

6 am - 1 pm with weigh in at the carpark.  This is a real family day.  Look forward to seeing mums, dads and kids.

 

The weather was dry, but cool and as the morning went on there were some very cold winds.  23 members went to Lillydale Lake and 18 trout were caught for 3.3 Kg.  Good catches were Hermann Schmidt with 4 fish; Glenn Hanson with 3 fish together with Jacob and Trent Cann both getting a nice trout each and Chloe Elliott, a midget weighed in a trout of 160 grams.

PRESENTATION NIGHT

Saturday 9th July at Highways - corner Corrigan Road and Princes Highway, Noble Park.  Payment for this night must be made to Treasurer by general meeting in July.

BLUE ROCK DAM - SUNDAY 19 JUNE

Only 6 members and 1 junior fished Blue Rock dam - which was the last trip for our current season syllabus.

8 Brown Trout were caught for a total weight of  1.72 Kg.  Mick Webber caught 3 fish for a weight of 590 grams; son Cameron caught 2 browns; and Norm Bull added to his overall score with 2 brown trout and Theo Galanos caught 1 brown.

 

WEEKEND - 4 & 5 JUNE  PURRUMBETE & BULLEN MERRI

23 members and 1 visitor fished Lakes Purrumbete and Bullen Merri last weekend.  21 fish - 10 Redfin, 10 Rainbow and 1 Brown trout were weighed in for weight of 9.77 Kg.  Trevor Cann caught a Redfin of 824 grams; Bob Young a Rainbow trout of 620 grams and Sue Brown a Rainbow trout of 960 grams.  Weather good on Saturday, but very windy and overcast Sunday.  Purrumbete more productive than Bullen Merri.

 

SUNDAY 29 May - Trip to Bass Coast Beaches

7 Seniors and 1 junior fished between Kilcunda and Williamsons Beach.  Those who fished Williamsons did extremely well.  Overall total of 85 salmon were caught for a total weight of 51.29Kg.  Cameron Webber our junior caught 9 fish for 5.06 Kg. Heaviest fish was caught by Mick Webber - 1.53Kg.  Other good fish were 1.04 by Rod Mulholland, Mick Elliott - 920 grams and Norm Bull - 77 0 grams. A very enjoyable day.

SUNDAY 15 MAY - TRIP TO MELBOURNE RIVERS.

This trip has been cancelled - for the safety of all - due to flood warnings for all metropolitan rivers.  

 

 

PATTERSON RIVER TRIP

Sunday 1 May 15 seniors, 1 lady together with 4 juniors and 1 midget fished Patterson River. ( This trip was rescheduled from Tarwin Lower River trip due to Tarwin River being deemed unfishable.)  Only 1 fish was caught for the day - a bream which was weighed in at 800 grams and caught by Theo Galanos.  Everyone ventured back to the clubrooms for a social bbq.

 

TARWIN LOWER TRIP (May 1) changed to PATTERSON LAKES.  This trip is landbased with weigh in and BBQ back at clubrooms.

 

April 17 members fished Woolamai.  19 fish - 18 salmon and 1 flathead were caught for a total weight of 12.82Kg.  Good fish of 1.38 and 1.17 Kg were caught by Ron Mason and Norm Bull respectively.  Cameron Webber and Jasmine Cann (both juniors) caught fish of 850 grams and 610 grams.

 

 

 
Welshpool & Port Albert Print E-mail

 

34 members fished Welshpool and Port Albert on weekend of  and 155 fish for total weight of  119 Kg were weighed in.  This bag of fished included 92 Flathead, 10 Gummies, 6 couta, 20 salmon plus pike, snapper/pinkies and leather jackets.  The best gummy shark was 9.88 Kg caught by Andrew Bouboulis and Sue Brown a Mako of 12.1 Kg.  Mick Webber caught a gummy of 8.22Kg and Colin Wilkinson a Pike which weighed 1.59 Kg.  In the juniors Irene Hatzi caught a gummy shark of 2.9Kg.
