Keysborough Angling ClubHistory of the Club

Keysborough Angling Club Inc. was established in 1978 and even after 30 years, boasts a membership of 85 families. (A membership includes member, spouse/partner and children up to 16 years of age).   In the early days, a group of young men who were very keen anglers met on a Friday night for a few social drinks.  These get togethers then lead to the birth of our angling club.   Initially meetings were held at the homes of some of these young chaps where the the first syllabus and constitution were constructed.  In a short time frame the meetings then moved to the Function Room at the Keysborough Hotel.

Since the late 1980s we have been extremely fortunate to enter into ongoing lease agreements with the City of Kingston and we hold our meetings at the Community Meeting Rooms which are located off Gladesville Boulevard, Patterson Lakes.

It is important to note that even now we still have four of the original foundation members involved in the club and are proud to identify 9 life members who are :

Terry Quirk Harry Nangle Paul Martin
Ian Green Rod Mulholland Graeme Brennan
Graham Simester Rob Joynson Helen Simester

Over many years members from Keysborough Angling Club have also assisted with :

  • Mates Day (Future Fish Foundation)
  • Social days for 'Kids with Cancer'
  • Social fishing days for under priviledged children
  • BBQ for the above
  • Scattering of ashes in the Bay
  • Artificial reefs in Port Phillip Bay

The club sincerely acknowledges all past and present members and their families and thanks them all for their contribution to making our club what it is today!
